“The most dangerous worldviews are the worldviews of those who have never viewed the world.”
.
We love this quote from Alexander Von Humboldt, the great German naturalist and explorer, who once traveled to #lakeatitlan and called it “the most beautiful lake in the world.” We have more to see but as of now wholeheartedly agree on both counts. #seetheworld

Stumbled upon this Mayan art and crafts shop exploring the indigenous village of Santiago and had a perfect Guatemalan breakfast here - eggs, black beans, plantains, tortillas and locally grown coffee.
.
We also fell in love with a giant hand-carved wooden giraffe here and hope to buy it and get shipped to us once we’re settled down... someday.

Lanchas at the lake come every 15minutes or so and only leave the dock in main villages once the boat is full.
.
We were in an Airbnb with a private dock, but it was easy to flag one down by waving.
.
Cost depends on your destination (there’s 11 Mayan villages surrounding the lake) and whether or not the Captain charges you the foreigner’s price, but it shouldn’t be more than $25 Queztales ($3 USD) per person.
